Tinubu-Shettima: At The Dawn of A New Era

By: Dapo Otubanjo

Tomorrow we renew our government, and continue to enrich the evolution of our democracy with yet another civil transition of power from an outgoing administration to a new government. Obviously, we have not achieved requisite economic benefits to fulfill expectations of majority Nigerians but celebrate we must the political gains of the last two decades as we set forth for the continuous cleansing of dirts in our politics for good governance to thrive.

The time for politics is over. It is now patriotically incumbent on all Nigerians to embrace governance, and support the new government with appropriate citizens participation for the good of Nigeria 🇳🇬, and invariably as a means to position ourselves to enjoy the probable benefits of citizenship, and the new government.

Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and Gov. Peter Obi owe us the duty, and virtue of good leadership, and patriotism by putting Nigeria at the forefront of all their political considerations whilst legitimately pursuing their cases at the presidential tribunal. My Nigerian wish is for all the political gladiators of the presidential election to find the political resolve for a unified attention, and commitment to national government. Nigeria wins when we all work together, and sacrifice personal ambitions for national interests.

On the flip side of the celebration of our democratic gains lies a striking, and poignant reminder that the challenges of Nigeria excessively outweigh the democratic gains of our politics. A large majority of Nigerians are neither seeing nor feeling the benefits nor presence of government at all levels. Poverty remains widespread with dehumanizing effects, and the agony of daily struggles by most Nigerians to eke out a living devoid of dignity, and pride. Inflation is still rising in the double digits bracket whilst the naira continues to shed value at rates that are devastating to our savings, investment, and pension. Electricity, generation, and distribution, is still inadequate to power Nigeria, and insecurity in various forms persists as menaces to our communities in different parts of Nigeria.

The enormity of our national problems is not peculiar to just Nigeria, and presents a great opportunity, for a historic turnaround and, to bring forth the greatness of a sleeping giant in the Nigerian state.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu is now “the man in the arena” for Nigeria with a national responsibility to provide visionary governance that allows for the nation to grow in means that give opportunities for Nigeriansto thrive in the pursuit of their individual, and corporate ambitions.

President Tinubu has no luxury of time to waste, and must set out from day one with a clarity of vision, and agenda for accelerated growth, and national development. Talk is cheap, and definitely over. It is now an imperative for the new President to walk his talk, renew hopes, build bridges of unity, and togetherness through diverse national discussions, and political collaborations, inspire belief, and confidence in the possibilities of Nigeria, and lead us towards the building of a sustainable foundation for the prosperity of our nation.

A national foundation that reorganizes the entire architecture, and institutions of government, and reorientates our mindsets as citizens through 21st century reforms.

Reforms that leverage the revolutionary impacts of technology to automate government functions, modernize civil service operations, give government both the capacity, and capabilities to carry everyone along, and leave no one behind, transform the criminal yahoo industry, and potential of our vibrant youth population into an incredible pool of tech talents for growth, and national development, and enhance government ability to create a super enabling national environment for the attraction of both local, and foreign investments we require for the industrialization of Nigeria.

We have lived in the shadows, and promise of greatness for far too long. It is now President Tinubu’s turn, and time to govern, and attempt to lead Nigeria towards the highways of greatness, and national prosperity. The source of greatness resides in the average citizenship of any nation, hence the new President must invest his dream of renewed hope in every Nigerian to bring to fruition the growth, and development of our nation.

To the President, and political aides, and allies, so much much of national power has been given for governance, and we expect so much from them in government as returns for Nigeria, and her people.

We wish the new President an abundance of good luck with prayers, and hope that Nigeria migrates to a developing, and better place under his leadership, and government.

God bless Nigeria, and all of us.
