A 6.5 magnitude earthquake hits El Salvador’s Pacific coast; no tsunami warning | World news

A 6.5 earthquake off the coast of El Salvador in the Pacific at a depth of nearly 70 kilometers on Tuesday evening, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.

No damages were immediately reported and the earthquake did not trigger a tsunami warning, El Salvador’s environment ministry said.

Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua all share a coastline around the gulf on the Pacific coast.

Nicaragua’s vice president and first lady Rosario Murillo also said that no casualties were immediately reported in that country.

One must always remain calm and reassure others when an incident occurs.

During the event, one should always look for the safest place – an open place, far from buildings.

For indoors, people should take cover under a desk, table, or bed and avoid glass panes, windows.

Calmly, one should not rush out of the house because it can cause a stroke.

If outside, one should leave buildings and wires and vehicles should stop immediately.

You should keep in mind to release all pets and domestic animals so that they can escape and one should stay outdoors until the vibrations stop.

It is also recommended not to use candles, matches and turn off all lights.
