Damilola Adelesi, Abeokuta
The appointments of new Ministers for the second term administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is gathering momentum, and taking another dimension, as the battle for the seat in Ogun State is getting tougher and tensed.
Ogunreporters reliably gathered that the combination of APC party leaders in Ogun state and Lagos state have been putting their pens on paper, and voices on ears, while lobbying for the ministerial seat at the presidency has gotten to its peak.
The hustle and jostle for the ministerial position of Ogun state at the Federal Executive Council is getting hotter, as the All Progressives Congress National Leader, Bola Tinubu; Former Ogun governor, Olusegun Osoba; Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo; and Former Ogun governor Ibikunle Amosun are not leaving any stone unturned at delivering their contradicting anointed candidates to the seat.
Bimbo Ashiru
While Former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Bimbo Ashiru is reportedly being pushed by the duo of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Ogun governor, Dapo Abiodun, the aspiration of Ashiru is getting a great boost. There is high feelers from the Presidency he might be favoured in the jostle.
Bimbo Ashiru served as a two terms Commissioner for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, where he introduced favourable policies to Ogun state including ‘cashless policy.’ He is a technocrat with passion to develop society and help people around him, and this helped him clinch the appointment as the representative of the Awujale of Ijebuland on the Ijebu Development Initiative on Poverty Reduction (IDIPR).
Segun Adesegun
Former Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Segun Adesegun is one of the people striving to attain the Ministerial seat. He is a very loyal subject of Former governor Olusegun Osoba and he has gotten Osoba’s blessing. Osoba is rumoured to have been lobbying President Muhammadu Buhari on the appointment of Adesegun as the Ogun Minister.
Segun Adesegun served as the Deputy Governor during the first tenure of Ex-governor Ibikunle Amosun. He was later at loggerheads with Amosun during the first tenure, and this led to the retirement of Adesegun from the Ogun State Executive Administration. Segun Adesegun was the Director-General of Dapo Abiodun Campaign Organisation, Dapo Abiodun is now the governor of Ogun state.
Lanre Tejuosho
Lanre Tejuosho was the former Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, and he is banking on his talks with President Muhammadu Buhari during the NASS massive defections, where he defected from APC to PDP and rescinded his decision few days after meeting President Buhari. He wanted to defect upon his second term bid rejection by the party in the state, but found his way back into the party after meeting President Buhari. No person could ascertain the level of discussion and agreement Tejuosho had with Buhari till date. Tejuosho is a Prince in Ogun State, and his father is a very influential king in the senatorial district.
