Court Remands 12 Suspects For Allegedly Setting Ogun Deputy Speaker’s Office, Vehicles Ablaze

A magistrate court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, Ogun State on Thursday ordered that 12 men who allegedly set the office and five vehicles belonging to Deputy Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, ablaze, be remanded in prison custody.

The defendants are: Azeez Lawal, 42; Isiaka Aderoju, 35; Seun

Adenuga, 23; Tajudeen Ogundele, 37; Lateef Ogundele, 28; and Ganiyu Tohibu, 23.

Others include Abu Abiola, 21; Kolawole Timothy, 20; Akinleye Waliu, 24; Egbede John, 28; Anthony Aboy, 25; and Olumide Michael, 25.

The defendants were arraigned on four counts bordering on conspiracy, arson and attempted murder.

The Prosecuting Counsel, Mr. Bale Nimnan, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on April 21 at about 7:30pm in Ifo Local Government Area of the state.

Nimnan alleged that the defendants and others at large went to the office of the deputy Speaker, set it ablaze, along with five vehicles on ground.

“The defendants burned down two Mercedes 1414 buses valued at N14m, one Mercedes 1415 bus valued at N9m, one Isuzu luxurious bus valued at N11m, office building and electronics valued at N7m,” the charge cheat stated.
