CSR: Dangote Gives Scholarship Award To Host Community’s Students

The Chairman, Dangote group of company, Alhaji Aliko Dangote has promised to continue performing his Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) effectively to the company’s host communities in Ogun State and across the country.

          Alhaji Dangote made the promise while giving scholarship award to some students in Ibese, the host community of the Dangote cement plant, in Yewa North Local Government area of the State, pointing out that, the gesture was part of his contribution to the development of education and assurance that he would support the Governor Abiodun-led government.

          Represented by the Plant Director of the Cement Plant, Mr. Azad Nawabiddin, Alhaji Dangote said the company was committed to the CSR to make life more meaningful for its host communities and its environs, as well as other parts of the country, adding that the organisation had donated health clinic, block of classrooms, transformer and boreholes to host communities in Ibese, Agaolowo, Onigbedu and Imasayi, all in Ogun State

           “Education is the best legacy; if you are educated you will be useful to yourself, your family and the society. At Dangote group, we have given scholarship awards to over 100 students of our host communities; I implore all beneficiaries of the scholarship to rededicate themselves to their studies, so that they can become great in future.

          “We want to use this opportunity to assure the current government of Ogun State, led by Prince Dapo Abiodun that Dangote will continue to support the new government toward achieving success”, he said.

          In his address, the Olu of Imasayi, Oba Gbadebo Adesola appreciated the good gesture of the company, promising to effectively manage all projects donated to the various communities and would continue to maintain the existing peace and mutual understanding.

          “We thank God that there is peace here. There is mutual understanding and communication between Dangote Company and its host communities. Nevertheless, I will implore you to still improve on your security service. I want to assure you that we will not relent at giving you adequate cooperation and we pray that God will continue to strengthen you, so that you can continue to do more and more’’.

          In their separate remarks, the Olu of Agaolowo, Oba Kayode Adio Kusere, and Olu of Onigbedu, Oba Mathew Ayinde Ajibulu, appreciated the contributions of Dangote to the development of their communities, saying the communities had witnessed tremendous development since the establishment of the cement Plant.

          In his goodwill message, the company’s General Manager and Head of Human Resources, Alhaji Sheu Abdul Maleek called for the continued support of the host communities, assuring that the company would continue to do more for every host community across the country and beyond.

          The Secretary, Ibese Council of Chiefs, Mr. Segun Omoniyi thanked the management of Dangote Cement Plants, saying, “we are very happy and it is a blessed day for us. The teachers and students of beneficiary schools really appreciate what you have done. We pray God Almighty will continue to bless Dangote Group of Company and Dangote Cement Plant Ibese”.

          Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Miss Abatan Roselyn of the Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta, promised not take the opportunity given them for granted, pledging that they would be good ambassadors of their various communities.

          The event also witnessed donation of transformer to Onigbedu , borehole to Imasayi, Medical clinic to Ibese, renovation and donation of six new block of classrooms to United African Methodist Church School, Ibese, construction of over 1,100 kilometre drainage within Agaolowo community; donation of eight block of classroom at Ansar-Ud-Deen Nursery and Primary School, Onigbedu and others.
