‘Dire year’ for children caught in conflict, as hospital and school attacks double

The Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict Virginia Gamba presented the new annual report of the Secretary General, for 2022, which showed that there were 27,180 grave crimes in total, an increase from the previous year.

Two-thirds of the crimes involved boys, with 24 different conflict situations. A total of 8,831 children were killed or maimed, and another 7,622 were abducted by groups or armed forces.

The worst offenders

Schools and hospitals

Russia added to the list of criminals

Israel, Palestine is not included
