In a show of commitment to grassroots development and community welfare, former Chairman of Ijebu North Local Government, Barr Adeboya Adebola Adekoya has rolled out a far-reaching empowerment programme for residents of area.
The initiative, which cut across all the wards in the LGA, saw the distribution of fuel to motorcycle (okada) riders and the support to physically challenged individuals and students who performed excellently in the last JAMB examination.
The well-attended event also highlights the cash empowerment to community leaders, professional bodies, politicians, market leaders and traders.
Barrister Adekoya, an experienced grassroots professional politician disclosed that despite being out of public office for five years, he remains passionate about giving back to the society he belongs to. “It is my responsibility to support my people, and this empowerment is one of many ways I intend to continue impacting lives,” he said.
He expressed deep appreciation to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his approval and support in making the programme a reality.
The event attracted key political and community figures who lauded Hon Adekoya’s selfless gesture. One of the political leaders at the event stated that Barr Adekoya’s benevolence is consistent with the legacy he built during his time in public service. “His heart for the people has always been evident; this empowerment only reinforces it,” he remarked.
Hon. Femi Nuberu, Governor’s Liaison Officer for Ijebu North LG, echoed similar sentiments. “It is rare to see someone return to uplift his people after leaving office. Barrister Ademola has proven his love for the community,” he said.
Also speaking, Mrs. Omotara, the Iyaloja of Ijebu North, commended the initiative, emphasizing the importance of community support and social responsibility from privileged individuals.
In his goodwill message, Senator Gbenga Kaka, former Deputy Governor of Ogun State, appreciated all APC leaders and market stakeholders present, congratulating the beneficiaries while praying for their success. He urged them to make good use of the support they received. The senator also extended condolences to the people of Ijebu land over the recent demise of the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, as well as former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari.
One of the beneficiaries, Ajoke Olaronbi, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Barrister Ademola, promising to utilize the empowerment package effectively for personal growth and community impact.
The empowerment programme has not only provided immediate relief but has also renewed hope in the hearts of many, reinforcing the belief that leadership transcends public office when driven by compassion and vision.
