Ex Ogun Assembly Aspirant, Mustapha Owolabi Donates Delivery Bed, Others To Ogun Health Center

Former Ogun State House of Assembly aspirant, Chief Mustapha Abdulakeem Owolabi, popularly known as MAO on Wednesday donated medical equipment to Ijaye Health Center, Abeokuta South Local Government, Ogun State.

Asiwaju who is also the Balogun of Ilogbo said that the donation was necessary due to lack of some vital medical equipment at the health centre.

He maintained that the center happened to be first line of defense in terms of health care .

MAO submitted that his efforts in donating the equipment, is to ease the pain of those with medical challenges and to help the health workers in providing effective and efficient healthcare services to community at large.

Some of the equipment donated were, delivery bed for maternal and child health, electronic blood pressure monitor and baby scale post birth.

He said ”My attention was called to state of things at the health center in ijaye, Abeokuta South Local Government, when I got there it really touched my heart that the health center which serves the community doesn’t even has basic item such as a blood pressure monitor and I also discovered that they were also lacking some items in maternal and child care department.

”The apparatus to check the blood pressure is the smallest thing that they need to have as health center as it’s a simple method used to detect high blood pressure thereby preventing complication that may result from hypertension.

“When I got there my eyes were opened to more things they don’t have, such as delivery bed to deliver pregnant women and many other items so I decided to donate some equipment and I promised to do more if eventually they need more,”

He called on the state government to take government back to the people by providing more resources to the local government in order to bring dividends of democracy to our people.

The ex-assembly aspirant urged the health center to ensure the equipment is properly used and maintain so as to reduce the pressure on secondary and tertiary hospitals.

“We are doing this intervention, especially at the primary health center here, because we believe this is an area that is closest to the people. Maternal and child health is very dear to me”.

Meanwhile, the matron of the health post who is also the ward focal person, Mrs Songo Dare, while receiving the items commended Asiwaju for the gesture, describing him as a man of large heart.

She showered prayers on him, adding that a politician like him is very rare.

The matron therefore said that they will ensure judicious use of all the donated equipment to provide effective healthcare delivery at the grassroots.

Other Dignitaries in attendance were Hon. Gafar supervisor for health, Alhaja Adebakin(aka Aramis ) and the community leaders at oja ale

They all prayed for Asiwaju and his family
