Female Learner Knocks Down Three In Highway Road Crash

A female learner has allegedly caused the death of three persons in Maranatha along Oru-Ijebu -Igbo highway when she lost control of her Toyota Camry car, which resulted in head on collision with a tricycle conveying six passengers.

Penpushing reports that Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Traffic Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi who confirmed the incident in a statement explained that the woman with her child in the vehicle was being tutored by her husband when she suddenly lost control of the car and rammed on the passengers carrying tricycle

The statement added that the learner was inbound Ijebu-Igbo when the crash occurred, stressing that realizing havoc caused she with husband and the child took to their heels from the scene, and in reaction angry mob damaged and vandalized the car before setting it ablaze.

‘The female learner driver lost control of the vehicle, for ab unknown reason as she was headed inbound Ijebu-Igbo and rammed into a Tricycle inbound Oru-Ijebu, in an head-on collision killing 3 passengers (including the rider) in the tricycle immediately, out the 6 passengers onboard the tricycle’, Akinibiyi wrote.

‘In the ensued commotion, the lerner female driver, her husband (the instructor) training her) and their child took to their heels. In the process an angry mob damaged and vandalized the car before setting it ablaze’, he added.

Penpushing further reports that the agency spokesperson said as at the time of filing this report the dead and the injured passengers have been taken to Best Care Hospital, Ago-Iwoye, and commiserated with families of the deceased

The statement, however, warned motorists against turning the highway into a driving school for learners in view of its attendant consequences, as well as cautioning against overloading of vehicles because of the risk involved

Penpushing also reports that Akinbiyi in the statement disclosed that the accidented vehicles (Toyota Camry and Tricycle) as at the time of filing this report have been taken to Oru Divisional Police Station for further investigation.
