Gen Ezugwu describes Buratai as the most outstanding military strategist By Auwal Umar Former Director-General of Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), Major General Victor Okwudili Ezugwu (Rtd) has described former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai (Rtd) as the most outstanding military strategist he has ever worked with.

 

Gen Ezugwu stated this in an exclusive interview with our correspondents on the first day In his words, “I have passed through several Chiefs of Army Staff from 1990 till today but Gen Buratai is the most outstanding military strategist that I can say that I wanted to be like him.

According to him, Gen Buratai was a warrior and courageous Chief of Army Staff who had compassion for his troops and officers and wanted them to be better than him.

 

In his words, “I have passed through several Chiefs of Army Staff from 1990 till today but Gen Buratai is the most outstanding military strategist that I can say that I wanted to be like him.

 

“He impressed me with his kind of leadership. He is a warrior, he is a very good and courageous man. In him, I saw a man of courage, I saw a man who has compassion for his troops and officers, a man who wants his officers to be better than him. He groomed all of us.” According to the former DICON DG, there is no Major General in the Nigerian Army that served under Buratai and wasn’t groomed to become a successful officer.

 

Gen Ezugwu expressed willingness to continue learning from Buratai even outside the military and also to support the former COAS in his future career in the country, adding that he understands the country very well and would make a good leader when the time comes. Speaking on his post-service plans, Gen Ezugwu said he was excited to be retiring from the Nigerian Army after serving the country for several years, adding that he had prepared and prayed for the day to come. He also expressed his readiness to serve God better than ever as he has retired from active service and is no longer restricted by his uniform.
