Let’s continue to consolidate on the developmental strides of Prince Dapo ABIODUN, CON – Hon. ‘Wale Olakunle KUKU SSA to the Governor on Finance (Revenue & Enforcement).
During an interactive session on Monday, 26th February 2024 The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ogun State on Revenue & Enforcement Hon. ‘Wale Olakunle KUKU urged & pleaded with the citizens of the state to promptly pay their Land Use Charge.
The developmental strides of His Excellency Prince Dapo ABIODUN in the state’s economy are so visible that no one can deny.
Following the state consistent positive performance in generating revenue, Ogun State has been ranked as Nigeria’s leading Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) state on Index A1.
I know this are tough times for us all but I believe better days ahead. So I Appeal to you, our good people of Ogun State to continually help us increase the IGR of our dear state by paying your Land Use Charge & other related taxes so as to further strengthen the “ISEYA” agenda of His Excellency Prince Adedapo ABIODUN, CON the Executive Governor of Ogun.
Responding to questions, Hon. ‘Wale KUKU layed emphasis of the prompt payment of Land Use , how it’s backed by law & its enforcement.
The Ogun State Government has approved 25% discount for early payment and there are penalties for delayed payment which are enforceable under the law if not paid within the period specified in the notice. The charge payable shall be increased by the following percentage;
• Between 45 and 75 calendar days 15%
• Between 76 and 105 calendar days 30%
• Between 106 and 135 calendar days 50%.
And those with accumulated bills (outstanding payments) the government is open to negotiate & agree on an amount to be paid before Enforcement commence. Actions will be taken against property owners who failed to pay their land use charge.
Please, let me state categorically clear that Land Use Charge is not an avenue to exploit individuals and/or businesses.
In spite of the global economic situation, the Governor has consistently remained steadfast in its mission to create an enabling environment that empowers our people and promotes inclusive growth. The Governor will continue to prioritize infrastructure development, education, healthcare, agriculture, and job creation.
The SSA Revenue & Enforcement further stressed that Revenue generated from Land Use Charge will also help to bring the much needed development closer to the grassroots as certain percentage of the amount generated goes to the Local Governments in the State.
Finally I’d like to appreciate & commend our taxpayers ( Land Use & Other related taxes) for the unwavering support given to the Government of Prince Dapo ABIODUN, CON from the first term of our administration. On behalf of His Excellency, i say Thank you for been devoted partners.
