Iranian state media are reporting that gunmen opened fire at an important Shiite shrine in the southern city of Shiraz, killing at least 15 people.

The judge’s official website said two gunmen were arrested and a third was on the run.

The state-run IRNA news agency has reported the number of people killed.

Sunni extremists have targeted holy sites sacred to the country’s Shiite majority in the past. The attack comes as Iran has been rocked by anti-government protests for a month.
