‘It’s about suffering the west’, Is Vivek Ramaswamy right about nuclear power? | World news
Vivek Ramaswamy, a potential GOP candidate for the 2024 US Presidential Election, has stirred controversy with his recent comments on carbon emissions and nuclear power.
In a podcast, Ramaswamy asked why the same people who advocate for a reduction in carbon emissions are also against nuclear power, which he says is the most clean form of carbon-free energy production.
“Today’s climate ideology in America says that carbon emissions are the enemy, carbon itself is the enemy,” Ramaswamy said. “But why do the same people who push the carbon agenda also oppose nuclear power?”
Ramaswamy goes on to suggest that there is a paradox at play, and that efforts to reduce carbon emissions should embrace nuclear energy as a solution.
Sharing the podcast on Twitter, he wrote, “40 years ago they told us that the ice age was approaching. Now they tell us that global warming is an existential threat to humanity. Which one? Neither. It’s really about government, control and western torture. “
His comments have been met with both support and opposition. Some argue that nuclear power is very dangerous and comes with its own set of environmental risks, while others agree with Ramaswamy that it is a viable solution for reducing carbon emissions.
