Ogun Assembly Calls For Safe Custody Of Graders In LGs
The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Olakunle Oluomo has directed the Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to liaise with all Heads of Local Government Administration (HOLGAs) across the twenty Local Government Councils for the recovery of the earth moving equipment, especially graders to council headquarters in the State for safe custody.
The directive was consequent upon the submissions of members including the Minority Leader, Ganiyu Oyedeji, Adegoke Adeyanju and Oludare Kadiri representing Ifo II, Egbado North I and Ijebu North II State Constituency respectively under Personal Explanation calling for the recovery of the graders for effective management towards rehabilitating roads in rural communities across the State.
The lawmakers alleged that the equipment were not well managed and required effective monitoring to ensure they are well utilised for the benefit of the rural people.
The Assembly also tasked the State Ministry of Environment to ensure effective management of dumpsites in the State, especially that along Ijagun/Epe Express way to forestall outbreak of epidemic in the area.
The call followed the submission of a member representing Ijebu North East State Constituency, Hon. Abayomi Fasunwa, who complained about the ineffective management of the dumpsite with refuse from the dumpsite taking over part of the expressway.
