Joe Biden ‘too old’ to travel for royal Charles: Report | World news

US President Joe Biden is likely to decline the Buckingham Palace invitation to attend the ceremony of the British king Charles III because he is “too old” to travel across the Atlantic twice a month, based on the UK every day. The Telegraph reported sources.

The coup event is scheduled for May 6, and aides close to Biden are eager to restrict his international movements as a measure for him to avoid being “too tired to do his domestic duties,” the report said. . However, his wife and First Lady Jill Biden may attend the ceremony in his place.

Among his upcoming trips, Biden is scheduled to visit Northern Ireland later this month and Japan for the G7 summit next month. He is also expected to meet UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at least three times in the next three months. According to the report, both Washington and London have indicated that the president is not exactly determined on attending the adoption event.

British Ambassador to the US Karen Pierce previously had “political and diplomatic” discussions with the White House about the event, however, Biden aides said he had prior commitments.

Biden, who is now 80, is the oldest person to hold high office in the US at the time he was sworn in, followed by Donald Trump.

Both Biden and his wife in September attended the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey. However, the seating arrangement for the President in the royal church led to a controversy as he sat behind the heads of European countries.

This wouldn’t be the first time a US president could skip the adoption event. President Dwight Eisenhower skipped the queen’s formal reception in 1953 and sent an ambassador instead.
