Man Shot Dead After Argument With Cousin In Ogun

A man, Michael Adeneye, was reportedly shot dead by the personnel of a local security outfit known as Agbekoya, following an argument that ensued between him and his cousin, Odunayo Adeneye, in the Ajebo area of Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State on Tuesday.

PUNCH Metro gathered from a senior police source on Wednesday that during the argument, the late Michael allegedly attacked Odunayo with a cutlass but was resisted by one Olowo Sule, who reportedly sustained injury from the cutlass wielded by Michael.

Following Olowo’s injury, the matter was said to be reported to a local security outfit known as Agbekoya which attempted to arrest Michael.

Our correspondent further learnt from the source that while the Agbekoya personnel attempted to arrest Michael, he resisted the arrest and in the process of trying to apprehend him, one of the personnel allegedly shot him in the chest.

The source said, “The deceased tried to attack Odunayo with a sharp cutlass, but Olowo Sule intervened to rescue her. During the altercation, the deceased cut Olowo Sule’s hand with the cutlass.

“Odunayo then sought help from the Agbekoya local security outfit at Ipara, which attempted to apprehend the deceased, but he became violent.

“In the process of trying to arrest him, Osho Adeyemi (Agbekoya operative) shot the deceased in the chest, resulting in his immediate death.”
