One of the talented showbiz personalities and ace Compere in the state, Ayodeji Atanda, but widely known in the social circle as Baffy De Comedian has gone back to the drawing board in a bid to raise the tempo of his annual show tagged Ijebu Go Laugh. He speaks briefly on this and some key issues in this brief but fun-filled chat with DAMILOLA ADELESI.
For the benefit of those who doesn’t know you, kindly introduce yourself?
My name is Ayodeji Atanda, popularly know as Baffy. I am a professional MC/Comedian based in Ogun state. A native of Ijebu-Ode precisely.
Can we briefly have an insight into what you do?
I am a professional MC/Comedian and I own an entertainment outfit – Baffy Entertainment. We are into events planning & management, Nightclub management, Brand promotions and Media consults.
Since how many years have you been doing this?
Professional since 2005. My event series started in 2010/2011 while rounding up from the university.
Considering the level you have attained, how has the journey been? What are the challenges you have faced?
It has been very challenging, particularly because most of my shows have been in Ogun-East , unlike the capital – Abeokuta, where we have a direct market for show lovers. It takes a lot from us over here. Sponsorship has not been forthcoming too. Also the entertainment industry here is not encouraging.
Having mentioned and compared the response of people here and other places to shows and events, What are your contributions at ensuring you improve the consciousness of your people to shows/events?
This year we have decided to inform and sensitize the public more. Publicity would be more than ever. We are going to engage TV/radio, Biillboards, bloggers, and other major media channels.
Do you have any upcoming event or events you would love to talk about?
Yeah! My annual comedy show ‘Ijebu Go Laugh.’
This is the 5th edition, we have started since 2014. And since then Ileya night has been a memorable for the comic experience we deliver. We have had a lot of top names in the comedy industry in past years. Likes of Gbenga Adeyinka, DR smile, Peteru, Destalker, Shete, Eteye, Wole, Remote, Dee1 Comedian, Mc Coded, Mc Rapindady and many more. It is always a fusion of music /comedy / dance.
What are the things people should expect from this year’s edition?
This year’s edition is going to be bigger & better. 10 comedians have been enlisted already. Top performance from musical names in Nigeria and trust me, we are going to give the audience an experience to remember.
What is your goodwill message to your fans out there?
I just want to thank my fans and supporters for always believing in my brand and I promise to always make them happy. Thank you.
