Prince William is “confused” about how to approach his proposal to Kate Middleton and whether to discuss the subject first with her parents. The royal couple first met in 2001 as they began their time at university in Scotland. Prince William and Kate Middleton then studied Art History, but the Prince of Wales switched courses, opting to change his degree to Geography.

The couple announced their engagement in November 2010 following a nine-year relationship as Prince William popped the question during a trip to Kenya with friends, presenting Kate Middleton with a stunning ring that once belonged to her mother, Son- Princess Diana.

But Prince William is very worried about proposing to Kate Middleton as he is faced with a dilemma on whether to approach Kate Middleton’s parents before proposing to his future wife himself.
“I was torn between asking Kate’s father first and then realizing that she could honestly say ‘No’ to me. So I think if I ask Kate first then she can never say no. So I did it that way,” Prince William said later.

He then mentioned that he would have a chance to chat with his future in-laws after the proposal.
“I managed to talk to Mike [Michael Middleton] soon after it happened, really, and then it happened from there,” Prince William said later.
Kate Middleton says her mother, Carole, is “over the moon” at the news of her daughter’s engagement.
“We have a very bad situation because I know, and I know that William has asked my father, but I don’t know if my mother knows,” Kate Middleton has said.
