OGSG Braces Up For World Tourism Day

    The Ogun State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, will on Friday, September 27, 2019 join the rest of the world to celebrate the 42nd edition of World Tourism Day.

          A release signed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Alhaja Selimot Ottun, indicated that, 2019 Edition with the theme, “Tourism and Jobs: Better Future for All” will hold at the Hubert Ogunde Hall, June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta by 10.00am.

          The release further informed that the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) set aside the day to celebrate tourism annually, with the aim of creating awareness on the significant roles tourism plays in local and international communities, adding that this year’s theme will highlight the vital roles of tourism in improving the cultural and socio-economic status of the people.

          According to the release,the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun is expected to be the Chief Host, while his wife, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun will be the Chief Guest of Honour.

          The release enjoined stakeholders in the State and general public to attend the occasion, as the celebration will feature professionals in the tourism industry.

          Other activities lined up for the day are; exhibitions, cultural dance and performances from different cultural troupes, among others.
