OGUN 2023: EX-PDP GUBER ASPIRANT ADEBUTU REGROUPS LOYALISTS

…Plans To Take-Over Party From Kashamu’s Pointsman, Bayo Dayo

Gateway Times July 2019 edition

Politicians they say are incurable optimist, and this famous axiom could best understand the mind of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP former governorship aspirant, Hon Oladipupo Adebutu at the moment.

Adebutu who recently bowed out from the National Assembly after his 4 years reign as the representative of the people of Remo Federal Constituency had fought tooth and nail as well an epic legal battle to clinch the PDP guber ticket in the state to no avail.

Gateway Trends can exclusively inform that Adebutu committed over N8billion into his governorship bid with his multi-empowerment scheme remaining a yardstick in the mind of the people of the state.

Apart from financial assistance to indigent people and various bodies, Adebutu distributed over 100 transformers across the local governments in a singular act seen as second to none in the history of the state.

But all of these warm gestures executed to soften ground for his dream of becoming the number one citizen in the state became a mirage as his face-off with Prince Buruji Kashamu scuttled his ambition.

Both Adebutu and Kashamu were at a time best of friends. Their relationship later went sour and all entreaties to unite them by various stakeholders even beyond the state could not hold water.

While Buruji was in the Senate in the last political dispensation, Adebutu was also at the lower chamber of the national assembly. The duo later locked horns on who has the legitimacy over the PDP governorship ticket in Ogun state.

Information has it that, while Adebutu enjoyed the backing of the National Working Committee of the PDP, the Ogun state PDP exco led by Engr. Bayo Dayo only recognised Kashamu as the authentic standard bearer of the party in the state.

Gateway Times also scooped that some ‘political termites’ who were easily finding a fortune from the crisis could not let the various peace moves brokered by well-meaning people in the society to succeed.

The two camps later went into the last election divided, leaving a brighter chance for other candidates in the governorship race.

The latest information is that Adebutu has made up his mind once again to give the 2023 a trial, though as even the winners of 2019 elections are just settling down in their respective offices. He was reported to have informed some of the key party chieftains and other loyalists of his readiness to start the journey early.

Though, Adebutu’s plan to take-over the control of the party structure in the state since the tenure of the present exco expires next year looks good, however another source who is in the know of the PDP power play confided in this newsmagazine that Sen Buruji Kashamu who was his (Adebutu’s) stumbling block in the last election has a different game plan unknown to Adebutu.

Kashamu as Gateway Times gathered had vowed to force Adebutu to bow to him in the power play or make him to go the same way which allegedly scuttled his chances in the last election.
