Ogun First Lady, Bamidele Abiodun Welcomes ‘Baby of The Year’

Ogun State First Lady, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun has welcomed the first baby born in the State, with a call on nursing mothers to ensure that they do not compromise the importance of exclusive breast feeding.

Welcoming the Baby of the Year, born in Primary Healthcare Centre, Igbogila in Yewa North Local Government Area of the State at 12.01am, Mrs. Abiodun emphasised the importance of exclusive breast feeding to the well-being of infants, expressing joy on the arrival of the baby girl, who she described as a gift to the family, State and nation at large.

Represented by a Commissioner-designate, Dr. Tomi Coker, the First Lady who presented cash and gift items to the baby and other new born babies, appreciated mothers for their roles in the society and admonished them to eat balanced diet for protection of the new born and toddlers from diseases.

She commended members of staff of the primary health center for their dedication to duty, even on New Year’s Day, assuring them of the present administration’s commitment to the welfare of under age 5 children and mothers.

In his remarks, the Chairman, Ogun State House of Assembly Committee on Health, Hon. Adegoke Adeyanju, expressed delight over the visit and presentation of gifts to the Baby of the Year by the First Lady, commending the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led government for giving priority to health and education sectors.

Appreciating the First Lady for her timely kindness, mother of the baby, Mrs. Moji Koselu, said it never crossed her mind that she would be a beneficiary of such gesture, praying that God would continue to crown her efforts with success.
