Ogun NURTW Election: Any Member Caught In Forceful Take-over Of Motor Parks Will Be Dealt With- Yasin

The National President of Road and Transport Workers, Nojeemdeen Yasin has said that the association will no longer tolerate a situation where members would use dangerous weapons to take over motor parks.

He stated this on Monday, while addressing a cross-section of stakeholders at the Ogun state secretariat of the union in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Yasin while charging their members to be peaceful in the conduct of the Union’s general elections coming up later this year maintained that the union would no longer tolerate violent and forceful takeovers of garages and motor parks as any members found wanting would be disowned.

“My message to the entire members of the Ogun state National Union of Road Transport Workers is that the era of using cutlasses and guns to take over garages in this union has been a thing of the past”

“There should be no takeover, anyone who makes such attempt to take over motor parks would be disowned and the law will take its course”

He also disclosed that the union would hold a national delegates conference in August where new executives would be elected, while states councils would have elections two months later.

According to him, We have put a transition committee in place for the leadership of the union from the National Secretariat. By August we will have a national delegate conference where I will step down as the President of the union to elect new set of national executives.

Two months after that, elections into the various offices to the 36 states councils will commence. I hereby use this opportunity to call on the members of the union in Ogun state to remain calm, when the time comes, we would have democratic leaders in the union.”

Meanwhile, the Ogun Stste chairman of the Union, Akeem Adeosun popularly known as JANGO pledged that the union in Ogun state would organize a peaceful election as advised by the national leader of the union.
