Ogun Reiterates Commitment To Food Sufficiency

Ogun State Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Bolu Owotomo has reiterated government’s commitment to further rejig the agricultural sector through consistent engagement and creation of enabling environment to enhance food sufficiency.

Hon. Owotomo stated this during a visit to Riparian Farming Limited, a subsidiary of ARM Holdco, along Imala-Olorunda-Tibo axis in Abeokuta North Local Government Area, assuring that government would continue to support farmers in managing their farms effectively to increase their yield.

He said the farm, situated on 2000 hectares of land provided by government, represented a significant step towards achieving food security and empowering communities, commending the management of the farm and the community for maintaining a cordial relationship which would have a positive effect on the development of the area.

The Commissioner, who also paid homage to the Omola of Imalaland, Oba Moses Olabode, stressed that government would continue to put in place, regulatory frameworks and policies to promote sustainable agriculture.

On his part, the Omola of Imala called for more government presence, to enhance socio-economic development of the area, promising that the people in the community would maintain any project provided for them.

Also speaking, the Managing Director of ARM Academy, who doubles as a Director in the farm, Ms Uche Azubuike, said the visit was to enable the Commissioner assess the farm, seeking more assistance from government to increase production capacity.
