Ogun Seals Off Company Over Environmental Infractions
Ogun State government has sealed off a cashew processing company for breeching Environmental Laws.
Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Bolaji Oyeleye, during a routine monitoring of industries in Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway said the cashew processing company had been discharging its effluent into the environment, after several correspondences had been sent to the company.
Oyeleye, who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Environment, Alhaji Oyesiku Amosun, said government would not tolerate any form of environmental pollution, adding that the task force put in place by the government had helped to enforce environmental Laws.
‘’We are here today to ensure that standard environmental laws are maintained by companies operating in the State, which is one of the responsibilities the Ministry is saddled. I can assure the citizens that government will achieve its desired result of an environment, free from dirt and pollution’,’ he said.
He admonished companies that are still in the habit of discharging harmful emission into the environment, to desist from such act and put in place necessary measures to address the issue.
