Ogun To Launch Job Portal Today, As Abiodun Promises Immediate Employment For Lucky Applicants

The job portal promised by the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, will be formally launched on Thursday where instant jobs would be offered to some lucky applicants, at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta at 12 noon prompt.

          The State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, said the portal would register, on a continuous basis, unemployed youth in the State, with a view to providing them jobs and training opportunities suitable for their trade and academic qualifications.

          Prince Abiodun said the job portal which was under review, recorded over 5,000 candidates when a test-run was done in July, for only two hours, noting   that, the response underscored the enthusiasm of the citizens to Government’s job creation initiative.

          “The Government of Ogun State is partnering with the public-private sector stakeholders to create opportunities and expand the job space for our teeming youth and those who have special talents

          “It is a major pillar of our quality governance model. We are going to have an inclusive government that will utilise valuable potentials that abound in the State and that is why we are involving the private sector.

          “All graduates and those with vocational training across the State will give their information and we will match them with potential employers, training opportunities, not only within the Civil Service, but also with the private sector, which we are partnering with”, the Governor stated.

          According to the statement, Prince Abiodun stressed that government would ensure that the citizens and residents of the State were employed, as a Local Content Bill, would be sent to the House of Assembly, such that investors would first look inward for availability of workers in the State and make the youths the primary catchment area.

          The release also stated that government has appointed Mr. Lekan Olude, a co-founder of Jobberman, a leading human resources management firm, as his Special Adviser on Job Creation and Youth Empowerment to coordinate activities and policies on Job creation to facilitate linkage with employers and multilateral development agencies.

          “Besides linking our graduates with industrialists and Government agencies, we plan to create new league of entrepreneurs who will become net employers in the State”, the statement further said.
