Ogun Wins 32 Medals As National Youth Games Ends
The National Youth Games has ended with Team Ogun wining 32 medals of nine Gold, six Silver and seventeen Bronze medals.
The team came sixth overall, behind Team Delta and Team Lagos who came first and second respectively, with majority of the medals coming from Gymnastics.
Gold medallist, Alameed Oriyomi, who won four Gold medals, believed the achievement of the team could only be attributed to the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who provided the needed support.
The Games is primary objective was to scout and groom talents who would be representing the country in various sporting events around the world.
It is a ranking event for sport development in the country, as States look forward to the Games to assess sport development in the country. 238 talents were discovered out of 3893 athletes at this year’s Games.
The 2020 edition would still be hosted by the University of Ilorin, Kwara State.
