Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday ordered the authorities to arrest all criminals and attackers responsible for the destruction and fire at Jinnah House and military and civil installations within 72 hours, ARY News reported.
Shehbaz Sharif gave the instructions while presiding over a meeting at the Punjab Defense Headquarters in Lahore. He said, “All the perpetrators, perpetrators, perpetrators, and attackers involved in the destruction should be arrested in the next 72 hours,” ARY News reported.
Pakistan’s PM Sharif further said, “This is a serious task that requires urgent action to ensure the safety and security of our citizens.” He lamented over the destruction of Project Safe City during the tenure of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Shehbaz Sharif said, “This situation worries me a lot, and I would like to request the chief minister to take immediate action.” Sharif said he made it clear to Chief Minister of Punjab Mohsin Naqvi that any corruption is unacceptable and those behind the corruption will be caught and brought to court for justice, as reported by ARY News.
Sharif said he was told that 40 to 60 per cent CCTV cameras were found to be inoperable in the last five years. He said the Safer Cities Program designed to protect people has suffered because of criminal negligence. He also ordered to increase the number of anti-terrorism courts in the region where legal proceedings against all these criminals should be started quickly.
“It is time to do or die or now or never. The real criminals who show this kind of hostility to the motherland should be caught and produced in the terrorism courts under the appropriate laws. These elements should be taken immediately,” ARY News quoted Shehbaz Sharif as saying.
Shehbaz Sharif tweeted, “I have given the law enforcement agencies a target of 72 hours to arrest all those involved in facilitating, abetting and committing shameful incidents of fire, looting, terrorism & damaging properties of public and private property. All available resources including technical assistance & Intelligence are deployed to pursue these elements. Bringing these people to justice is a trial case for the government, their case will be prosecuted by terrorist courts.”
Earlier, Shehbaz Sharif and caretaker Punjab CM Mohsin Naqvi visited the damaged Lahore Corps Headquarters where he extended solidarity with the country’s military leadership, according to ARY News. He also visited the Industrial Hospital to meet with the injured workers.
The arrest of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC) led to protests and demonstrations by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters across Pakistan.
PTI workers held protests in cities across the country, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar, and Mardan, Geo News reported. They threw stones at police vehicles and tore down street lights.
PTI supporters shouted slogans like “Free Imran Khan,” and “Quit Pakistan,” in the streets of Lahore, Faizabad, Bannu, and Peshawar.
Meanwhile, the conflict in Pakistan has now stopped as the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted blanket relief to Imran Khan and banned the authorities from arresting him until May 15.
