Post COVID-19: We’ve Increased Ogun IGR To Over N100b, Says Gov Abiodun

The Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun says his administration in the last three and half years have been able to increase its Internally Generated Revenue to over a hundred billion naira post COVID-19

Abiodun who made this known during the celebration of Ijebu sons and daughters by the Ijebu Heritage Group in Lagos State, said that his administration was able to achieve the huge increase in its IGR through some of its deliberate programmes aimed at creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the state.

Abiodun, while adding that his administration would continue to take advantage of its competitive and comparative advantage over other states in the country, promised that his administration would also ensure provision of a focused and qualitative governance, whilst creating an enabling environment for public private sector partnership in the state.

The governor who noted that the creation of an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the state is fundamental to the economic growth of Ogun, disclosed that his administration has taken advantage of its proximity to Lagos State, focused on the provision of infrastructure, ranging from security to transport.

He noted further noting that his administration has constructed over 400 kilometers of road, built over 1,200 affordable housing units, increased fleet of ambulances from the five it met on ground to over fifty, adding that his administration was nearing the completion of the international agro cargo airport.

Abiodun also informed the gathering that the recent ground breaking of a $400m Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone along with the airport would avail the people with over 20,000 job opportunities when completed.

He described the Ijebu Heritage Group as a group of intellectuals who have distinguished themselves in their various disciplines and thereafter opted to come together to synergize, share experiences, pull resources together towards the socio cultural improvement and upliftment of Ijebuland, Ogun and the country as a whole.

The governor, however, commended the group for honouring some of its sons and daughters that have distinguished themselves in their chosen fields and have been found worthy.

Some of the personalities given awards included the the Pro-Chancellor of the Olabisi Onabanjo University; Prof. Oluwatoyin Ashiru, Chairman, O’odua Investment, Otunba Bimbola Ashiru, the Minister of State for Health, Dr Olorunnimbe Mamora, Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun; Dapo Okubadejo, the Secretary to the Ogun State Government; Tokunbo Talabi, among others.
