One of the young and new age groups in Ijebuland is Egbe Obayori Okunrin Akile Ijebu “Kuye” which was officially acknowledged, blessed, traditionally recognized and coronated into the council of Ijebu Regberegbe on Sunday, 19th August, 2018 by Alaiyeluwa, Oba (Dr) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, CFR. J.P, Ogbagba ll, Awujale & Paramount Ruler of Ijebu Land.
The age group, Egbe Obayori Okunrin Akile Ijebu “Kuye”, Comprises of Ijebu sons born In the year 1977, 1978 & 1979 under the leadership of Giwa Alhaji Suraju Lasisi as the Giwa Egbe.
In a press briefing with the Publicity secretary of the Egbe, Comrade Akeem Temitope Akilo, revealed the Egbe’s plan for her members, the economy summit. He opined that “Egbe Obayori, has designed two developmental plans of which, one will fundamentally centered on the welfare of the members of the Egbe and the other plan will be targeted and directed towards the economy development of Ijebu land.
First and foremost, improvement of the welfare of our members is sacrosanct. This continuous aging program will be executed through the Egbe Obayori Foundation, which was recently registered with the corporate affairs commission as “Egbe Obayori Okunrin Akile Ijebu Kuye Foundation”. The foundation was set up for the common good of our members, our communities and the good people of Ijebu nation.
This illustrious initiative was received with applause. We want to ensure that all our members are economically and socially viable.
Secondly, the economy development plan for Ijebu land will be carried out through an economy summit which will be hold to show the in-depth coverage of the economy and infrastructural potent of Ijebu nation and to showcase its potentials to the stakeholders.
During the chat, Comrade Akilo, further revealed that, “The summit will dissect and recommends strategies which will drive meaningful youth employment, enhance and address security strategies and challenges, promotes industrialization, activate and boost the tourism potential of ijebu land”.
The summit will convene key leaders who are of Ijebu extraction from the public and private sector, also an erudite academia that will consequently provide a broad overview, further in-depth analysis of the economy status of ijebu land and how it will be achieved.
We want to use the opportunity to drive home our numerous potential sons and daughters that are flourishing at home and in diaspora.
We’re now in the modern world, the 21st century where things are changing and evolving constantly. Gone are those days where all about ‘Regberegbe’ Age grade in Akile Ijebu were majorly based on the classic merriment and partying.
He stressed further, that, although, there will always be room for pleasures and socializing, because in these type of socializing interactions, we learn the norms, customs, values, and roles of our native. Our fathers and mothers in Regberegbe has achieved alot. They’ve ultimately handed down to us a rich attributes and evergreen practice which will remains an indelible mark imprinted on the soul that cannot be blotted out.
We are duty-bound as younger ones and new generation to consolidate on these imprints so as to improve the socioeconomic and infrastructures development of our land, the Ijebu nation”, he said.
