Reps Member, Segun Adekoya Wins As Court Strikes-Out Adeyemi’s Petition

The election petition tribunal sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State has strucked out a petition filed by Hon. Harrison Adeyemi of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Lado group, Ogun Waterside against Hon. Adekoya Abdel-Majid popularly known as Attacker, honourable representing Ijebu- North/Ijebu -East and Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Hon Adeyemi had approached the election petition tribunal and prayed that the court declared him the authentic candidate of February 23, 2019 legislative election.
In its ruling, the tribunal struck out the Petition after resolving all the pending motions in the petition including notice of preliminary objection challenging the locus standi of the Petitioner to institute the petition and the competence of the Petition.
The Tribunal ruled that the Petitioner lacked the jurisdiction to file the Petition and also that the Petition is incompetent. The Petition was consequently struck out.
While striking out the case, the Tribunal ruled that it lacked jurisdiction on the case as it is a pre’election matter
Consequently, the Tribunal ruled that Hon. Adekoya Adesegun is the bona- fide member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Ijebu-North/Ijebu-East/Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency of Ogun State.
Adekoya is being tipped by his colleague to be the next deputy minority whip of the House of Representatives
