Second 8-year-old girl dies after car crashes into London primary school | World news
A second eight-year-old girl has died after a car crashed into a building at a south London primary school on Wednesday, police said on Sunday.
Pupils were having an end-of-term tea party with parents and teachers in the garden of the Study Prep School in Wimbledon, less than a mile from the site of an ongoing tennis match, local media reported.
The driver of the car, a 46-year-old woman from the area, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, police said.
The incident is not being treated as a “serious incident,” police said Wednesday.
On Thursday it was confirmed that Selena Lau had died as a result of her injuries.
The second girl, identified as Nuria Sajjad, died on Sunday, police said.
Her family said in a statement that she was “joyful, kind and generous and loved by all”. (Reporting by Paul Sandle; Editing by Hugh Lawson)
