SEMA To Give Succour To Ijebu Ode Flood Victims
Ogun State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) says it will collaborate with the national body to give succour to flood victims in Ijebu-Ode.
The Director of SEMA, Mr. Olufolarin Ige, stated this when a team from the Ministry of Environment visited the affected areas of the city, advising the victims to take photographs of their damaged properties for proper enumeration.
Mr. Ige said the gravity of the disaster was extensive, such that National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), must be brought into the picture, so that victims could be adequately catered for, assuring that government would not neglect the victims in their plight.
In his remark, Director of Flood, Ministry of Environment, Engr. Ismail Adenuga, said there was the need for complete re-engineering of the drainage system in the city, adding that State government would need the ecological funds from the federal government to achieve this.
Affected areas in Ijebu-Ode include, Degun Street, Balogun Kuku Road and Osinubi Street, with victims calling on both the State and Federal governments to come to their aid
