Shots fired in the air during the new year celebration in Karachi, 22 injured | World news

At least 22 people were hit with stray bullets on Saturday in a shooting party on New Year’s Eve in Pakistan, Geo News reported.

Many people, including a child and women, were injured due to aerial firing in different parts of Karachi.

As at 12 o’clock in the morning to announce the arrival of the year 2023 on Saturday night, the port city resounded with the sound of heavy gunfire despite the ban on gun display, reported Geo News.

According to hospital sources, City Hospital admitted eight injured, four injured were brought to Jinnah Hospital, and ten injured civilians, including women and children, were admitted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment. According to rescue sources, 22 people have been injured, Geo News reported.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested three people on air firing in Korangi and charged them with attempted murder. Law enforcement arrested more than 10 criminals in the city, Geo News reported.

Karachiites take to the streets and roads to celebrate the arrival of the new year. The five star Chowrangi was filled by people in a festive mood.

People also flock to Clifton Seaview and Do Darya to see the huge fireworks display celebrating the New Year.

Separately, many clubs, and hotels organize large firework displays to welcome the New Year. Fireworks were also organized in other parts of the city, including Bahria Town and Bagh Ibn Qasim.
