Princess Bajrakitiyabha of Thailand remains unconscious for more than three weeks after collapsing due to a heart problem, a palace statement said in an update on the health of the 44-year-old potential heir to the throne.
The eldest son of Thai king Maha Vajiralongkorn lost consciousness on December 15 due to a severe cardiac arrhythmia resulting from inflammation following a mycoplasma infection, according to a statement issued by the palace on Saturday.

“The general condition of the princess is that she is unconscious,” the palace said.
“Doctors continue to provide medication and use of equipment to support the functions of the heart, lung and kidney as well as the use of antibiotics while monitoring his condition closely,” he said.
Princess Bajarakitiyabha fell ill while preparing her dogs for a competition in northeastern Nakhon Ratchasima province, where she initially received treatment before being flown to Bangkok.

She is one of King Vajiralongkorn’s three children with formal titles, making her eligible for the throne under the palace’s succession law and the country’s constitution.
The king has not formally chosen an heir and there has been no official discussion on the prospect of a princess taking over the throne.
Princess Bajarakitiyabha, a trained lawyer with bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Cornell University, has served as Thai ambassador to Austria, Slovenia and Slovakia and in roles with the Attorney General’s office, the Royal Security Service and as the Thai representative to the United Nations Commission on Crime.
