Two US military helicopters crash in Kentucky | World news
Two US Army Blackhawk helicopters crashed in Kentucky during a training exercise Wednesday night, officials said.
“The condition of the crew members is unknown at this time,” the Fort Campbell military base said in a statement early Wednesday.
“The command is currently focused on caring for service members and their families.”
The planes, from the 101st Airborne Division, crashed around 10:00 pm Wednesday in Kentucky’s Trigg county, northwest of Fort Campbell.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said the deaths were expected.
“We have some hard news from Fort Campbell, including early reports of a plane crash and expected fatalities,” he said on Twitter.
He said Kentucky State Police and emergency management are responding.
“Please pray for all involved,” Beshear tweeted.
Fort Campbell said the incident remains under investigation.
“We will release more information as it becomes available,” he said.
