The police command in Ogun has confirmed the death of one Sunday Abidoye, 55, whose lifeless body was discovered at Creestar Hotel room , GRA, Sagamu on Wednesday.
SP Omolola Odutola, the Command’s Spokesperson disclosed this in a statement in Abeokuta on Wednesday.
Odutola explained that the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the hotel, who preferred to be addressed as Oluwole, reported the incident regarding the discovery of a deceased customer to the police .
She said that on receiving the report, a team of detectives visited the scene and on arrival, they found the body of the deceased already placed inside a car outside the hotel, being prepared to be taken to the morgue by his family.
She noted that the deceased’s brother, Jimoh Godday, residing in Imota Town, Lagos State, informed the police team that his brother had arrived in Nigeria from the USA on Saturday.
He mentioned that he had called on Monday .
” He said after not getting a response , he visited the hotel, after knocking the door severally, he requested a spare key from the manager to enter the room, where they discovered his brother lifeless body.
” Various drugs and traditional medicines were recovered from the room.
” The center of the bed was soaked with a liquid like substance.
” A friend of the deceased, Ogunmonti Ogunwole, confirmed that he accompanied the deceased to purchase nine different types of medication the previous day due to his complaints of illness,” she said.
The police spokesperson said that the deceased had been evacuated to OOUTH Morgue in Sagamu for an autopsy.
She said no known cause of death yet, saying the case would be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.
Odutola advised people to shun the use of drugs without following necessary medical prescription.
