Vladimir Putin’s ‘dangerous’ plan to attack Ukraine’s capital: ‘Soldiers already…’ | World news
Russian President Vladimir Putin made another attempt to seize the Ukrainian capital Kyiv as he threatened a new Russian attack. Despite Russia’s botched attack on Kyiv which turned a “three-day major military operation” into months of full-scale war, the Russian president suggested to military bloggers and war reporters invited to the Kremlin that he was planning a second attempt .
Russian troops “are already near Kyiv,” he said. “Should we go back there or not? Only I can give the answer,” he added. Moscow may seek to produce more Ukrainian territory to prevent an attack on Russia, after the attack on Kursk and Belgorod regions, Putin explained.
Calling it a “sanitary zone” on the border, Vladimir Putin said the amount of territory Russia could take depends on “the forces that emerge behind the so-called [Ukrainian] counter office”.
Meanwhile, Russian missile attacks continued in southern and eastern Ukraine on Wednesday. Ukraine’s air defenses fought back as Russia fired four Kalibr missiles at the port of Odesa from a ship in the Black Sea, Ukraine’s air force said, adding that it fired three of them.
One hit a grocery store, killing three workers and injuring seven, Oleg Kiper, head of the district’s military administration, said. “People can be under pressure,” he added.
Six other people were injured after a business center. Shops and a residential complex in the city center were damaged “as a result of the airstrike and the blast wave,” he said.
