The Yoga session will be held between 8 am and 9 am on the North Lawn at the UN Headquarters, where people from more than 180 countries will participate in the Yoga Day celebrations. The PM’s event will see participation from UN officials, diplomats, ambassadors, representatives from Member States and prominent members of the international and foreign community.

Preparations are underway at the venue, as seen in the video, to ensure the grand success of the event. The video shows a green lawn decorated with yellow yoga mats. In addition, the lawn features a bust of Mahatma Gandhi, which was donated by India to the UN and installed in December last year during India’s presidency of the UN Security Council.

India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Mission Ruchira Kamboj told PTI that PM Modi will also pay for the bust of Mahatma Gandhi that “proudly adorns” the North Lawn of the headquarters. I think, it is very interesting and very important given that India has the largest army and police contributing country,” to UN peacekeepers, he added.

The UN announced June 21 as the International Day of Yoga in December 2014 after a proposal by India and approved by 175 member states.
