Olajide Osoba, Abeokuta
The teachers under the league of Academic Staff Union Of Secondary Schools, Ogun State chapter has said that the unpaid leave allowance owed by the last administration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun has demoralised them.
They appealed to the state governor, prince Dapo Abiodun to approve the immediate payment of their outstanding leave allowances that the past administration has refused to pay them.
The state chairman of Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, ASUSS, comrade Akeem Lasisi disclosed this during the World Teacher’s Day held at the M.K.O, Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
He said ” our Excellency , in the spirit of this year’s World Teacher’s day and given your background and parentage, we are looking forward to receiving one heart – cheering piece of news from you, the announcement of the approval of the leave allowance in honour of Teachers who are poised to double their efforts in delivering their best for the state . The matter of the unpaid leave allowances has demoralised many of us up till today. If we leave this venue with that pronouncement, our joy will know no bounds.
”We also wish to appeal passionately that ASUSS be given a bus to mark the day. We know that our governor is a willing and compassionate man who hates to see people suffer untold hardship”
He therefore congratulated his members who are lucky and privileged to see today, advising them to continue to put in their best in their discharge of their responsibilities even when the environment and facilities are not world -class.
