Western media reports on China’s population that India deliberately ignores China’s development, using the subject to “bad mouth” and advocate isolation, state broadcaster CCTV said on Wednesday.

CCTV’s sharp commentary said that the message from the Western media in recent years is that China’s development is in “big trouble” and that when China’s demographics are lost, it will decline, and the world economy will suffer again.

“They are insulted in every way and China has developed in every way, creating a miracle of sustainable development and economic stability with many people.”

India is overtaking China as the world’s most populous country, and will have 3 million more people than its neighbor by the middle of this year, data released Wednesday by the United Nations showed.

“The United States is continuing efforts to develop China and plan further development and see new hot spots from the United Nations report,” CCTV said, adding that the West equates population size with development achievements.

“Such hype lacks a basic understanding of the law of human development. With the development of human society today, the decline in the birth rate and the decline in the desire to have children are common problems faced by the whole world,” CCTV said, adding that Western developed countries in general face problems such as labor shortages.

Last year, China’s population fell for the first time in six years, a history that is expected to bring a long period of decline in citizen numbers, with deep implications for its economy and the world.

Spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry Wang Wenbin said that the population shares do not only depend on the amount but also on the quality.

“Population is important but talents are also important… China has taken active measures to respond to the aging population,” Wang told reporters on Wednesday.
