We’ll Continue To Promote Academic Excellence – TESCOM Boss
The Chairman, Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Mrs. Olabosipo Ogunsan, has said that the Commission would continue to ensure that teachers in the State Public Secondary Schools impart positively on the students for improved academic excellence, as the new academic term begins.
Speaking at the monitoring exercise to some schools for the resumption of the 2018/2019 academic year, Mrs. Ogunsan, who was represented by the Full Time Commissioner I, Alhaji Nojeem Magregor, charged teachers to be more dedicated and responsive to their duties, adding that the third term of every academic year was usually the busiest, as it determines students’ performances and academic career in the school.
‘’This term is the last and it is very crucial, meaning that students should be more studious than they were before, teachers and principals should put in more efforts than they did last term. This term would determine how far the students will perform in their academic pursuit’’, she said.
The TESCOM boss, commended the schools visited for the level of their preparedness for the new term, charging students to shun all forms of social vices and use the internet positively to improve their academic capabilities.
In his remark, the Vice Principal, Itori Comprehensive High School, Itori, Mr. Lawal Adetonwa, said the school has made available, instructional materials for teachers and students, to improve teaching and learning activities in the school.
Some of the schools visited included; Owu Community Comprehensive High School, Elere Adubi, Itori, Ifedapo Community Comprehensive High School, Abalabi Itori and Ibogun Olaogun Community Sconday School, Olaogun, Ifo Local Government Area, among others.
