Yewa Awori Occupies Special Position In Our Developmental Drive – Gov Abiodun

Governor Dapo Abiodun has reemphasized that Ogun West Senatorial District will continue to be at the forefront of his administration’s socio-economic considerations.

The governor said the zone remains an integral part of his administration’s developmental drive

Abiodun made this known on Tuesday at the Yewa Division Town Hall meeting, in preparation for the 2024–2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and the 2024 Appropriation Bill held at Ilaro the capital of the senatorial district.

Represented by his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Governor Abiodun added that his government will continue to accord the people of the area important position in the demonstration of sincere commitment to good govenance.

According to him, Ogun State is the industrial capital of Nigeria, because Ogun West has the highest concentration of factories and industrial hub in the country, as well as home to some of the largest industrial estates in the entire sub-Saharan Africa.

Abiodun stressed that his government is doing all in its power to bring in new industries and ensure existing ones remain viable while ensuring that the ease of doing business is maintained in the area always.

He reiterated that his government to which the people confidently gave their mandate, understands their pains and is doing everythingpossible to ease the sufferings.

In his remarks, Commissioner For Budget and Planning, Mr Olaolu Olabimtan, reiterated that the townhall meeting was based on governance feedback mechanism and citizens participation, adding that the meeting would help improve citizens confidence and trust through engagement, promoting local and foreign investment, promote and sustain inter ethnic and inter religious harmony.

He said that the meeting was not just a mere rituals, but was about policies, programmes and projects, reiterating that out of 203 inputs from last year’s meeting 193 were met and included in the last budget which represents 95%.

Olu of Ilaro and paramount ruler of Yewaland, HRM, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, speaking through the Onimeko of Imeko, HRH, Oba Benjamin Olanite, said the importance of good roads cannot be over emphasised.

He called the attention of the state government to Ejila Awori road which borders Lagos and other areas, the ongoing Imasayi-Iborro-Ayetoro Iboro road, old frontier road, now called Ilara, Iggua and Ilase road in Yewa North, Ota road, Lusada -Atan-Agbara road, Ilaro township road, Imeko Afon Bridge among others

A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kazeem Salako said Yewa Awori needs more provision of housing scheme, while calling attention to Atan-Alapoti road, completion of Sango-Ijoko-Akute road, construction of Mopin-Iyesi road, completion of Ota public water scheme, improvement of road networks in Ota GRA and rehabilitation of Agbara township road.

Also speaking, the Olobi of Ilobi, HRH, Oba Saliu Adedokun Ajibade said the development of Yewa land is paramount to its citizens, especially rural areas because past governments usually concentrated on the town, adding that Okenija, Olobi to Owode needs urgent attention of the government.

Replying to the demands, Governor Abiodun pleaded for patience, even as he stated that his administration was not looking away from their plight.

The governor promised that with the recent agreement by the government at the Central for the restruction of Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta Expressway, which is one of the major roads in the area by his administration, work will commence immediately to alleviate the sufferings of commuters on the road.

While appreciating the Royal Fathers of the region for working hand in hand with government to promote its development, the governor used the opportunity to reassure the people of his unwavering commitment to completing all ongoing infrastructure projects across Ogun West.
