OGERE-REMO – In a significant political gathering on Sunday, November 30, 2025, key Arewa organisations in Ogun State declared full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election and formally called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to run for the Ogun East Senatorial seat in 2027. The event, held at the Palace Event Centre, also saw the announcement of a “One Million-Man March” to solidify the endorsements.
The press conference, jointly organised by the Arewa Business and Trade Association, Ogun State (ABTAOS) and the Arewa Community APC, Ogun State (ACAGO), featured a roll call of community leaders who articulated their positions.
Speakers and Statements:
Alhaji Sanni S. Kure, who read the group’s collective address, stated the purpose was to “formally express our confidence in a leadership characterised by integrity, inclusivity, and demonstrable performance.” He praised Governor Abiodun for “actively championing” diversity, citing the historic appointment of Arewa indigenes to his cabinet as a “turning point.”
Alhaji Mohammodu Goni Bura performed the symbolic act of handing over official endorsement letters to the representative of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Issuing a direct political call, Alhaji Shu’aib Ghanga said he was presenting “the mandate to run for the Ogun East senatorial seat” to Prince Dapo Abiodun.
Echoing this, Hon. Kolawole Shuaib Ganga, the Special Assistant to the Governor and event coordinator, urged his principal to “heed the call and run for the Ogun East senate so that he will continue working with his people.” He specifically praised the Governor for infrastructure like the Gateway International Airport.
Comrade Mahmud Alhassan Zamfara directed his remarks to the electorate, calling “on the people to collect their voters cards” in preparation for the elections.
Hon. Abdul Musa took on the role of recounting the administration’s achievements, detailing Governor Abiodun’s strides in infrastructure, economy, and human capital development.
Sheriff Alkasim Idris rallied the community, calling “on his Arewa people to use the opportunity to thank President Tinubu and Prince Dapo Abiodun” for their leadership.
A prominent figure, Alhaji Sa’adu Yusuf Dundare Gulma, Chairman of Arewa Community APC for Lagos and the 17 Southern States, expressed gratitude. He thanked the leaders “for giving us a sense of belonging.”
Hon. Jamiu Asimiyu, Chairman of Ikenne Local Government, noted the strategic importance of the move, declaring that “the Arewa community across the state are the first group in Ogun State to first endorse the president and call on Prince Dapo Abiodun to run for the Ogun East senate.” He promised continued alliance, citing the community’s “formidable and trusted” nature.
The “Project PBAT 2027” and One Million-Man March:
Central to the event was the unveiling of “PROJECT PBAT 2027 ENDORSEMENT.” The groups announced a planned “One Million-Man March” under this tag, designed to demonstrate the Arewa community’s “unity, gratitude, and political readiness” ahead of the 2027 polls. The march aims to mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election and Abiodun’s senatorial ambition.
Dignitaries in Attendance:
The event was attended by a cross-section of leaders, including the Asoju Oba of Ogere-Remo (representing the monarch), the Iyaloja and Babaloja of markets, all Seriki Arewa leaders across Remo land, and other VIPs from across the state.
The conference concluded with a signed resolution reaffirming “unwavering confidence” in President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, “total endorsement” of Governor Abiodun, and “complete loyalty” to the APC.
