Transport Workers Hail Abiodun’s Emergence As APC Ogun East Consensus Candidate

The National President of the Amalgamated Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Owners, Repairs and Riders Association of Nigeria, Adebayo Samsudeen Apelogun, has hailed the decision of the All Progressives Congress to rally round Governor Dapo Abiodun as the party’s consensus senatorial candidate for Ogun East ahead of the 2027 elections.

Apelogun, in a statement on Tuesday, said the party’s decision to field Abiodun for the Ogun East Senate race aligns with the people’s high hopes and expectations, given what he described as the governor’s pragmatic and purposeful leadership in the state over the past seven years.

The ACOMORAN National President, who also holds the titles of Asiwaju Adeen of Ogun State and Baba Adeen of Remo, and was recently appointed the 2026 Amir Hajj for the state, described Abiodun’s emergence as a natural progression of his leadership.

Apelogun stated, “Your Excellency, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to you on your successful emergence as the consensus candidate of the APC for the Ogun East Senate seat.

“This achievement is a testament to your dedication, hard work, and the confidence all of us have in your capabilities. The truth is that our dear state has continued to grow beyond leaps and bounds since you assumed office about seven years ago.

“Aside from several road and housing infrastructure, including unprecedented industrialisation growth, the state now boasts of an international airport, our dear Gateway State has constantly been on the rise under your leadership and this good work you will surely continue by the time you get to the Senate in 2027.

“We sincerely believe you are the right choice for the task ahead, and we congratulate you and assure you of our support to fully get this dream realised”.

He noted that Abiodun’s track record in infrastructure development and economic repositioning of Ogun State makes him an ideal representative for the people of Ogun East at the Senate.

Apelogun further emphasised that the transport sector, particularly motorcycle and tricycle operators represented by ACOMORAN, has witnessed stability and support under the current administration.

He expressed optimism that the governor’s transition to the Senate would bring national focus to the developmental needs of the district and the state at large.

Recall that Abiodun was on Monday, at a major stakeholders’ meeting of the ruling party held in Ijebu-Ode, adopted as the APC’s consensus candidate for the 2027 Ogun East Senate race.

The event drew members of the Governor’s Advisory Council, former and serving local government chairmen, past and present lawmakers at both state and national levels, councillors from all wards in the district, as well as women and youth leaders.

Speaking during the meeting, former Ogun East senator, Lekan Mustapha, said the decision was driven by a shared conviction that Abiodun possesses the capacity to represent the district effectively at the Senate.

Mustapha said that “Party leaders would formally communicate the endorsement to the governor, including a commitment to purchase his nomination forms for the 2027 election.

“We will put a body together to deliver this message to our Governor that he has been adopted as the consensus candidate.”

He described Abiodun as a leader of strong character and sound intellect, adding that he should be given the needed support ahead of the 2027 elections.

Apelogun concluded his message by praying for continued wisdom and strength for the governor as he completes his executive term and prepares for a new phase of public service.
