Ex-Reps Member, Adekoya Eyes Returns To National Assembly

Rt. Hon. Abdel-Majid Adesegun Adekoya, popularly known as Attacker, has officially dropped his senatorial ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections and declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Ijebu North, Ijebu East and Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency.

The former lawmaker said the decision followed sustained appeals and consultations with party leaders, traditional rulers, youths, women groups and other stakeholders across the constituency.

Adekoya, who represented the federal constituency in the House of Representatives from 2015 to 2023, explained that returning to the Green Chamber would enable him to deliver more direct dividends of democracy to the people.

Speaking after picking his nomination form, the former lawmaker said he decided to sacrifice his senatorial ambition in response to the wishes of the people.

According to him, the House of Representatives remains the platform where he can best continue his developmental agenda and provide effective representation for the constituency.

“I have listened to my people. I have heard their call. I chose to drop the senatorial ambition because the House of Representatives is where I can serve you directly and deliver the most immediate results for Ijebu North, Ijebu East and Ogun Waterside,” he said.

During his eight-year tenure in the National Assembly, Adekoya was known for embarking on several constituency projects, including road rehabilitation, construction of schools and bridges, as well as empowerment programmes targeted at youths, traders, market women and the elderly.

Supporters of the former lawmaker described his return bid as a major boost for the constituency, citing his track record of grassroots development and consistent project delivery.

The picking of the nomination form signals the commencement of what supporters described as a people-oriented campaign anchored on experience, accountability and performance ahead of the 2027 polls.
