The Ibrahim Dende Foundation (IBD Foundation), through the Lara Dende (LRD) Initiative, has trained 3,500 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ogun State in life-saving skills as part of efforts to promote public health awareness, emergency response and community development.
The training, held on October 15 and 16, 2026, at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Sagamu, Ogun State, was organised in partnership with Paraklet Health Hub Academy, which served as the technical training partner.
The programme equipped corps members with essential knowledge and practical skills in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid to enable them to respond appropriately to emergencies before the arrival of medical professionals.
The initiative was sponsored by Alhaji Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun, whose support facilitated the training of the 3,500 corps members.
Speaking on the initiative, the convener of the LRD Initiative, Chief Mrs Omolara Judith Egungbohun, said the programme was driven by the need to equip young Nigerians with practical skills that could help save lives and strengthen emergency response in their communities.
She explained that emergencies could occur anywhere and at any time, making it important for people to acquire basic life-saving knowledge that would enable them to offer immediate assistance before professional medical help arrived.
“Training 3,500 corps members in CPR, Basic Life Support and First Aid is a significant investment in humanity.
Mrs Egungbohun hinted that these young Nigerians will be serving in different communities, and the knowledge they have acquired can make a real difference whenever an emergency occurs.
According to her ” Our goal is not just to train them but to ensure they understand the importance of these skills and are prepared to use them responsibly when the need arises.”
A single person equipped with the right knowledge can make a difference between life and death,” she said.
Mrs Egungbohun also expressed appreciation to the foundation’s sponsor, Alhaji Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun, for supporting the initiative, noting that his investment demonstrated a commitment to youth empowerment, public health and the preservation of human lives.
She also commended the NYSC officials and the Paraklet Health Hub Academy for providing technical expertise for the training, stressing that partnerships remained essential to delivering impactful programmes on a large scale.
The convener urged the corps members to take the lessons beyond the orientation camp and apply the knowledge in their places of primary assignment, host communities and everyday interactions.
According to her, the initiative reflects the foundation’s philosophy of “Humanity Beyond Borders”, which seeks to translate compassion into practical interventions that improve lives.
Our correspondent reports that the IBD Foundation team at the programme was led by Mrs Egungbohun which included the General Manager of IBD International Hotel, Prince Eluah Uche, the Human Resources Manager, Mr John Olopade, and the Foundation’s Media and Publicity Manager, Mr Saheed Adeola (Mrpossible), among others.
