We Can’t Bribe Gov Abiodun’s Committee To Do Our Bidding – Union Boss, Ajiboye
Says Allegation of N22m Bribe To OGIRS, Governor’s Committee Unfounded
Following the crisis rocking the transport unions in Ogun State which has propelled Governor Dapo Abiodun to constitute the Governor’s Committee that oversees the affairs of the transport unions pending the resolution of the crisis, the erstwhile leadership of AMORAN, one of leading motorcycle riders’ union in the state, has disassociated self from rumour making round that the leadership of the unions has bribed Governor’s Committee as part of maneuvering to remain State’s union leaders.
Quoting some of the allegations leveled against AMORAN and other transport unions in the State, It was reported that Akeem Adeosun, Jango through some Ogun APC leaders had negotiated both officials of Ogun Internal revenues service and the newly appointed transport committee with millions of naira.
“Same as well for Wale Ajiboye popularly known as MTN was reported to have remitted N22m he made across the 20 Local government Areas to the Bank Account of Ogun IRS last week, while he quickly settled the transport committee members”.
But, in a swift response to the allegations raised against the leaders of transport unions, the State Chairman of AMORAN, Alhaji Olawale Ajiboye, debunked the allegation and described it as criminal and unfounded, saying that the lies were concocted by some unknown elements to tarnish his image and paint him black before newly inaugurated government of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The State AMORAN Chairman noted that himself, NURTW Chairman, Alhaji Akeem Adeosun, popularly known as Jango, Eze Murphy and host of other union leaders, were accused in the social media of offering bribes to Governor’s Transport Committee and Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) in order to remain in office and still be collecting transport levies meant to be handled by Governor’s Committee and the people so appointed in that regard.
Alhaji Olawale Ajiboye, popularly known as Wale MTN, explained further that the unknown elements, who are serving the inordinate agenda of their paymasters sitting somewhere, alleged that the union leaders in the State had gone to bribe the Governor’s Committee with N20 million and Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) with N22 million for them to remain in office and still be collecting transport levies from the transporters.
MTN however affirmed that the allegations made by the cyber warriors and their paymasters as shared online, have no value and basis in the history of the AMORAN since there is a Memorandum of Understanding between the State government and the Caretaker Committee which upholds their unity and guides the activities and affairs of the union.
He therefore called on the members of public to discountenance the allegations, noting that the Association will continue to maintain and abide by the order given by the State government until the matter is resolved, assuring the members of the public that the true position of things and affairs of the transport unions in the State would be soon be made known
“The truth of the matter is that, the State Government led by Prince Abiodun has dissolved our Excos, we do not have power over the decision being a union, the governor knew those that delivered, the order is to resolve the crisis within the unions across the State”, Ajiboye said.
