Ogun Police Nab Man For Raping 16-Year-Old Girl

A 30-year-old man has been arrested by the Ogun state police command for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl.

This was contained in a statement issued to journalists on Sunday in Abeokuta by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP, Abimbola Oyeyemi.

The arrest was made after the victim reported the case at the Ibafo Police Station.

Oyeyemi explained that the suspect who is a friend of the family went to the victim’s house on the said date at about 1:30 pm asking for her parents.

It was gathered that the the girl was grabbed and raped by the man when her parents have gone to church.

Thereafter, the case was reported and the DPO Ibafo Division, SP Abiodun Ayinde, detailed his detectives to the scene at Mapara Makogi area and the man was promptly arrested.

On interrogation, the suspect who admitted to being a friend to the family of the victim, claimed not to know what came over him when he committed the act.
According to him, the young girl always saw him as a brother.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bashir Makama has ordered the transfer of the suspect to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for proper investigation and prosecution.
