OGSG, World Bank To Deliver 60 Macro Projects

Determined to deliver 60 macro projects in six Local Government Areas, the Ogun State Government in collaboration with the World Bank through the State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDP), has trained 72 Local Government Review Committee members drawn from the beneficiary communities.

The General Manager, CSDP, Engr. Sakirudeen Salaam stated this at the training organised by the agency, for the Local Government Review Committee (LGRC) members with the theme, ”Timely Delivery of Quality and Sustainable Community Development Plan’’, noting that the programme was to acquaint them with their roles in monitoring the proposed 60 micro projects which must be delivered as scheduled.

He said the review committee was germane in the implementation of the projects, urging members to get ready for the task ahead and effectively monitor in order to be successful in their assignment.

‘’Having gone through the review by ensuring approval by the World Bank Project was granted, it is important to supervise and monitor the projects which include provision of water, community road, electricity, schools, among others that would be approved by the World Bank’’, Salaam said.

In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabintan, said the training would enable members to be fully involved in monitoring, enjoining them to take the bull by the horn in the delivery of the projects, which he affirmed, the World Bank earmarked funds for, through the State Government to execute.

Appreciating government for creating an enabling environment, the Board Chairman, CSDP, Pastor Oladeinde Odeyemi, noted that the projects would provide job opportunities to the citizens, appealing to the committee members to avert what could tarnish government’s image, avoid conflict and execute the assignment to the best of their ability, for the project to be thoroughly appraised by the World Bank.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Community Development and Cooperatives, Mrs. Melutia Ogunremi implored the committee to guarantee quality and sustainability of the projects, saying the agency would ensure efficiency in the discharge of the work for prompt completion.

The six beneficiaries include Odeda, Abeokuta North, Remo North, Yewa North, Ado-Odo-Ota and Ipokia Local Governments.
