2023: Councillorship Aspirants Back Gov Abiodun Second Term Bid
Agrrieved Councilorship Aspirants in Ogun State have said that they will work for the victory of the governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun in 2023.
The Councilorship Aspirants who have dropped the aggrieved APC Councilorship forum and now formed new group called Dapo Abiodun Progressive Councilorship Aspirants Forum, DAPCAF, on Sunday endorsed Abiodun for second term in office, saying that they are still members of All Progressives Congress, APC.
They dismissed the speculations that they have all defected to PDP, saying that some of them have decamped to PDP and not all of them.
The councilorship Aspirants also declared their support for APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senatorial Candidates, Alhaji Shuaib Salisu, Senator Solomon Olamilekan, Popularly known as Yayi and Otunba Gbenga Daniel and other APC candidates in Ogun State.
They declared that they are no more part of Aggrieved Councilorship Aspirants Forum, saying that the convener of the group, Ayo Mayami and some of their colleagues have joined the People’s Democratic Party, PDP after they have collected huge amount of money and gifts from the people democratic party
They added that they have decided to come up with the new group, DAPCAF because they still believe in Dapo Abiodun and they will support his re-election bid.
According to them, DAPCAF consists of over seven hundred Councilorship Aspirants who are still members of APC in the state and who still love Dapo Abiodun and ready to support his re-election bid.
The Councilorship Aspirants during their first meeting today assured Abiodun of their support, adding that they will mobilize millions of people for him.
Hon. Obilade Rahman, from Ado-Odo Ota, Iju ward 7, while speaking with our correspondent, Olajide Osoba said that he has refused to defect to PDP because he believes Dapo Abiodun has not forgotten him and other councilorship Aspirants, saying that he is a man of his words.
He noted that he will support the re-election of Prince Dapo Abiodun and support other APC candidates.
Obilade described Abiodun’s administration as operational and people’s oriented.
Also Hon. Akinsanya Malik from Sagamu, ward 6 told our correspondent that before the new group they were members of Aggrieved Councilorship Aspirants Forum but immediately some of them dumped APC for PDP, they decided to come up with a new group which is DAPCAF as to let people know that they are still with Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Hon. Ebenezer Semilore from Odeda local government, olodo ward 3, submitted that the group decided to endorse governor Abiodun because of his great achievements since he assumed office, saying that no trusted candidate like Abiodun.
He maintained that Abiodun has proved his mettle to lead Ogun State to greater heights based on his administration’s commitment to infrastructural development.
Semilore said “as we move closer to the critical processes that will culminate in the 2023 general election, it has become imperative, not only to inform the general public of our determination, to return Abiodun for a second term in office, but also to call on him not to forget we the councilorship Aspirants because we have decided to remain in the party when some of our colleagues have defected to PDP.
The group therefore appealed to governor Abiodun not to forget to compensate them.
